Specified Skilled Worker Skills Evaluation Tests (Various Fields)

The skills test required for SSW 1 applications. A separate test exists for each of the 12 specified industry fields, available inside and outside Japan. Waived for those who completed Technical Intern Training (TIT) 2nd term. Fields: Nursing Care, Building Cleaning, Manufacturing, Construction, Shipbuilding, Automobile Maintenance, Aviation, Lodging, Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Manufacturing, and Food Service.

Combined with passing the Japanese language test (JLPT N4 or JFT-Basic), meets all SSW 1 application conditions.

How to Obtain

Test content, locations, and schedules differ by field. Many fields allow overseas testing. After passing, obtain the certificate and attach it to application documents. Check the official site of each field's exam authority for details.

Tips for Passing

If you completed TIT 2nd term in the corresponding field, both the skills test and the Japanese language test are waived. Make sure to obtain your completion certificate.

Some fields offer regular testing opportunities overseas (Vietnam, Philippines, Nepal, Indonesia, etc.). Passing before entering Japan makes the residence status application smoother.
